Kingsdale Workshop – Saturday, 18 October 2025

A hands-on landscape photography workshop in the stunning Kingsdale valley. Learn how to use your camera with confidence, improve your composition, and capture dramatic waterfall scenes — all in a relaxed, small-group setting.

Workshops start 8 hours before sunset so we get a great day’s shooting and hopefully a perfect “golden hour” at the end.

October sunset should be around 6PM so we’ll meet at 10:00AM at the Marton Arms

No crowds. No pressure. Just a relaxed day of photography, guidance when you want it, and space to enjoy the moment.

Only 6 places — these usually go fast.

✓ Trusted by hundreds of happy photographers since 2012

What You Will Learn On The Day

This isn’t a classroom. It’s hands-on, practical learning — out in the landscape, with time to explore your camera, try new things, and ask questions as you go.

  • ✅ How to compose more striking, balanced photos
  • ✅ Using different focal lengths to control depth and perspective
  • ✅ How to blur moving water with long exposures
  • ✅ Focus stacking for sharp foreground and background
  • ✅ Spotting scenes that work in black & white
  • ✅ Tips for shooting in tricky light (like waterfalls in bright sun)
  • ✅ Getting confident with manual camera settings (without stress!)
  • ✅ Knowing when to take the shot… and when to wait for the light

Where We’ll Explore

Kingsdale is one of those places most people drive straight past — but once you walk into it, it opens up into something unforgettable. Quiet, dramatic, and full of photo opportunities from the very first bend in the road.

  • 🟢 Thornton Force – an iconic 50-foot waterfall with a perfect rocky foreground
  • 🟢 Limestone boulders and hawthorn trees – great for focus stacking practice
  • 🟢 Ingleborough views – classic Dales backdrop with winding dry-stone walls
  • 🟢 River Twiss cascades – long exposure playground!
  • 🟢 Deepdale and Dentdale – sweeping views with soft evening light
  • 🟢 Gastack Beck Waterfall – a peaceful bonus stop if time allows
