The Dales at its Finest

Malham and the surrounding area is simply stunning – from its massive “cove” to its expansive “tarn”, and everything in between, it’s a landscape photographer’s dream come true.

Opportunities to photograph a wide range of subjects, including:-

  • waterfalls
  • limestone,
  • cliffs,
  • trees
  • a huge lake

All with guidance from pro-photographer Ade Wilson to help demonstrate technical and creative landscape skills, and be on hand to help with all of your questions througout the day.

Creative and Lots of Fresh Air!

Today is all about:-

  • ideas
  • beautiful locations
  • composing great landscapes
  • curiosity and discovery
  • seeing like a photographer,
  • understanding where to put things in a photo
  • watching and learning from a landscape pro
  • answering any of your questions

We’ll also have time for individual help – so please do bring along any questions and we’ll do what we can to answer them for you.

Useful things to know beforehand

To get the most out of the day, knowing a few things about your camera in advance will really help – including:-

  • How to select Aperture Priority (or Manual)
  • How to change Exposure Compensation
  • How to change White Balance
  • How to put your camera on a tripod correctly
  • How to change ISO

All of these are great skills to learn, so a fantastic investment in your time. We will teach you how to use them – just great knowing where to find them on the camera in advance.

What happens on the day?

The plan is to enjoy a leisurely day at many locations, the walking is “light” and mostly on the level – so any level of fitness should be fine.

Refreshments and toilets are sparse in the area – there is a public toilet at Malham Car Park and usually a sandwich and coffee van at Gordale Scar – so we do recommend bringing along snacks and drinks to keep you going.

Our endpoint will be at sunset above Malham at Malham Rakes – the exact finish time will depend on the weather, but should you need to leave earlier please just let us know – it’s not a problem at all.

Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment
